Opponents
The AI has three levels; in Kastgard the aggression and the personality of an opponent can be set too, and in Tribes the opponent of the original game plays.

The AI (artificial intelligence) is an opponent in the game that is played by the computer. The levels are Weak, Normal and Strong everywhere; the Slovak names differ by place.
Kastgard
| Level | How it plays |
|---|---|
| Weak | attacks at poor odds and wastes dice |
| Normal (default) | attacks at favourable odds, keeps its territory connected and joins territories |
| Strong | plans a retaliation, protects weak border tiles and eliminates weak players |
The Strong AI beats the Normal one in 71.5% of the duels (800 games). A level-3 AI in the place of the player against the AI opponents wins 55% of the games in a duel and 47% with 8 players, while an average level-2 AI wins about the fair share (50% and 12.5%).[1] A stronger "expert" AI did not succeed: tuned weights and Monte Carlo did not surpass the Strong one.
- Principalities have the fixed level Normal and "everybody against everybody", no personalities (Principalities). In the missions of the Campaign the level is 2 or 3 by mission (Campaign and Iron Run).
- Tribes is played by the opponent of the original game, with no levels (Tribes).
- Free play (Free play and maps) changes the strength and the aggression of the opponents: ignore me, mostly among themselves, balanced, mostly against me, only against me, against the leader.
- Personalities can be chosen in Free play and for each seat in Watch a game (Record, analysis, picture and music, the picture above): standard, mixed, or one of seven. A personality is a style, not a strength: the Turtle waits for a clear edge, the Vulture attacks the weakest player, the Collector wants cities and fortresses, the Grudge pays back within three rounds, the Gambler plays even odds and big stacks, the Kingslayer goes after the leader (you too) and the Settler takes neutral land first.
- The opponents comment (off, brief, chatty). The Statistics have a tab Rivals, which records how you did against each personality.
Rokgard
Colony and Lines have three levels, Normal is the default; the level also sets the multiple of the experience (0.5, 1 and 2). The Colony AI of the first level looks at one reply and makes mistakes, the second searches to a depth of 3 and the third to a depth of at most 12. The Lines AI of the first level plays with mistakes, the second has a fixed depth and the third searches as deep as its budget allows. The ladders of the levels in Colony and in Three in a row are on the pages Colony and Three in a row: how not to lose.
